MaxGXL Story — or How MaxGXL Came to be — is a story of how Dr. Robert H. Keller faced the challenge of helping critically ill patients have a chance to fight back... and surmounted this challenge both for his patients and the rest of the world!

The story of how MaxGXL is, like most invention stories, somewhat of an accident. It’s about Dr. Keller noticing something with his patients, asking himself why?... and then digging deep and experimenting until he discovered the answer.
In this case Dr. Keller, a triple certified medical doctor and recognized medical scientist, noticed low uric acid levels in his sickest patients... at first he thought the low uric acid levels were just lab errors, but then he started recognizing a pattern...
But, before we get back to the story, you should know that Dr. Robert Keller has his own state of the art diagnostic laboratory. Without that, nothing else might have happened, because testing is very expensive.
To pursue his scientific interests, in 1994, Dr. Robert H. Keller founded The BIODORON Institute of Advanced Medicine, a state-of-the-art medical clinic specializing in cutting edge treatment for immune system disorders and anti-aging.
Low Levels of Uric Acid - it all started here.
After reviewing patient lab results for many years, Dr. Keller noticed a trend. He kept seeing significantly LOW levels of uric acid in subjects with immune system disorders. Uric acid, Dr. Keller found out, is the last antioxidant at the body's disposal when all the normal antioxidants have been exhausted. Low levels of uric acid were indicative of a body that had nothing left to fight with and was now using up uric acid in a vain attempt to fight off overwhelming numbers of free radicals.
This Observation Begged the Question, What is the Body’s First Line of Defense?
Dr. Keller went back into the scientific literature, seeking the answer to one question: If uric acid is the body's last defense, then what is the first? His investigation led him to a substance called glutathione.
Glutathione (GSH): The Master Antioxidant
Dr. Keller’s research led him to the understanding that the most prevalent, powerful and multifunctional antioxidant in a healthy human body – employed by every organ and cell of the body – is reduced glutathione. Glutathione (GSH) is a small protein produced naturally in our cells if the requisite precursors are present. It functions both as an antioxidant and an antitoxin and is a major defense system against illness and aging.
Glutathione Levels in the Body Indicate our State of Health and can Predict Longevity
Our glutathione level actually indicates our state of health and can predict longevity. It has been suggested that in the future, GSH levels will be closely monitored. There are over 78,000 medical articles currently published on GSH, yet most health professionals have only a vague idea of its significance. In the near future the importance of glutathione will be widely recognized.
The Test
After learning of the importance of GSH, Dr. Keller needed to test the hypothesis that the levels of GSH in subjects with immune disorders were, in fact, severely diminished. To get a current and accurate gauge of a subject's GSH level, was no easy trick. Utilizing standard red blood cell tests for glutathione meant that measurements would be up to 120 days out of date (the life cycle of a red blood cell). Dr. Keller knew an accurate glutathione test must measure real time GSH. A good way to do this would be to measure glutathione inside of lymphocytes (activated cells). Such tests would show the glutathione levels in virtual real time (only a six hour delay). However, no such lab test existed.
Using a state-of-the-art medical laboratory, Dr. Keller and his team of scientists developed a proprietary lab test to measure levels of GSH inside the lymphocytes.
The tests confirmed the hypothesis. People who are stressed, aging, lacking sleep, or with any prolonged illness utilize glutathione at an accelerated rate resulting in decreased bodily stores, weakened defenses, and increased risk of illnesses including accelerated aging.

The Challenge
It was clear that the GSH levels needed to be replenished in these subjects. But how? Glutathione is produced naturally from three amino acids: glycine, glutamine, and cysteine. These essential precursors of GSH must be able to make it from the mouth to the gut, then through the cells walls and subsequently the mitochondrial membrane. There lies the challenge.
Unfortunately, we can’t raise our body’s GSH level with ordinary foods or pure L-glutathione. Even though glutathione is present in many fruits, vegetables and meats, this protein is instantly broken down during digestion into its three amino acids. Cysteine, or N-acetylcysteine (NAC), is the most important of these precursors and is the main limiting factor necessary for the body to manufacture GSH. Alone in the gut after digestion, cysteine is treated as a free radical and rapidly reduces. Consequently, only a very small percentage reaches our bloodstream and cells.
Furthermore, GSH is always in great demand and is rapidly consumed, so any GSH that is made will be used up quickly making it even more difficult to increase this level.
The Solution: MaxGXL
After years of research and testing with his private patients, Dr. Keller developed MaxGXL, a product that contained the necessary components of glutathione that, when absorbed into the body, stimulate the body’s own production of glutathione (see graph showing Gluathione increase caused by MaxGXL consumption) to be used by every cell. MaxGXL is so good it was awarded a composition patent. MaxGXL is far different from injected glutathione, which cannot cross the blood-brain barrier or oral glutathione which is useless because it doesn’t get past the digestive system. MaxGXL stimulates the body’s own product of glutathione, raising intracellular levels of glutathione by and average of 292%.
Now Enters Steve Scott
In 2006, Steve Scott (an infomercial marketing genius) learned about Dr. Keller’s glutathione enhancing product through an acquaintance. He flew to Florida to meet Dr. Keller, became interested in what he learned and began taking Dr. Keller’s glutathione enhancing product. The results he experienced were so powerful that he told others who had significant health challenges. Their even more powerful results became a life-changing problem for Steve Scott because he now believed that it was his duty to help bring to the world the possibilities for restored health that Dr. Keller’s product offered.
The “Team” - The “Launch”
During 2006 and early 2007, a team was formed to bring MaxGXL (the name chosen) to the world. In about a year’s time a company was formed, the product was actually improved (Dr. Keller was challenged by Steve Scott to improve the product and he was able to do so by introducing components that helped the liver to recycle glutathione). In April 2007, the company was pre-launched with the official launch in September 2007.
